The GB+I Team - it was such a fun 2 weeks we had together, I am missing everyone and looking forward to seeing you all at the British!
The USA Team- it was fun to meet and play with you all :)
Mary and Teg - what a great captain and manager to have! Thank you for everything, and Teg thank you for looking after my poor feet, that was a tough job you had!
Susan, Shona, and everyone at the LGU - thank you for all your hard work organising the trip, uniform and for all the many many photos that you took over the two weeks :)

Just wanted to say a massive thankyou to pretty much everyone..first of all to Mary, Teg and my team mates for such a great 2 weeks...had so much fun with everyone and the last 2 days have certainly seemed quiet! Also to the LGU for all their support leading up to and during the Curtis Cup. Everybody at Long Meadow Golf Club for looking after us and a great warm-up match.To everyone at Essex County Club for all your support and in making the week so special for all of us. Finally to everyone who travelled out to and all of you at home who supported us throughout the Curtis Cup.

Back home safe and sound, it was actually clear blue skies in Ireland today, a bit nicer than Boston was the last few days.
I had a great experience at the Curtis Cup, and our week at Longmeadow, so thank you to all who made our trip possible.
Thanks to everyone for their support, it kept us going out there, knowing that the cheers were for us was great.
We have a few days rest, then back to work, looking forward to Ganton next week.

Well back home in Scotland for the first time in 10 months after a fantastic time at the Curtis Cup. We tried our hardest and but for a few putts the result could have been very different. Thank you to Mary, Teg, Susan and everyone from the LGU for all your hard work. Thanks also to my team-mates for making the week so special. We did appreciate all the messages of support and the cheers from all the spectators who made the trip to Essex CC. There were plenty of GB&I flags! Hope everyone arrived home safely. After visiting Curtis Cup sisters home we popped in to the famous Captain Dusty's ice cream shop for a small cone. Small is not an American word! Huge cones but tasted fantastic. Off to Salem now before lunch and transfer to the airport. See you all at home tomorrow.

hmmmmms ok yes, yesterday was dissapointing but the team played great....just have to go out and do the business today :) team spirit is still good as it has been all the time that weve been here! Just slightly concerned that we may be minus a few caddies today, Pams caddie Paul had his 21st birthday lastnight so now doubt celebrations were quite heavy!! fingers crossed for today :)

Not such a good day at the office!

So....what happened there? Well as anticipated the USA team came out all guns blazing....our girls though, were well up for the gunfire and threw back some sensational grenades themselves.
However, the history book will never be able to show the hairline difference between winning and losing today and unfortunately, as has been said many times before....the score does not reflect the true result. Are we battered?...yes...are we bruised?....yes....can we recover....yes we can, and if I honestly did not believe this, I promise. I would not be writing it. The challenge for Mary and I is to have the whole team believe this also. Difficult, I think for everyone at home perhaps to understand my optimism, looking at the score, but our girls are too talented and have too much desire for me to simply write off, which on paper looks like a no hope situation....it is never over until the fat lady sings....who is the fat lady anyway? Nobody has won or lost the Curtis Cup yet....so lets just see what happens. The golf today has been sensational, from both sides and I have no doubt that the Curtis sisters would heartily approve of the manner in which it is being played at their course.....Mary and I are very proud of our girls....they are a joy to be with. Excellent reception tonight hosted by the LGU....Sorry we had so little for time to chat to so many supporters, but we had to get the girls back to base and feed them.....after golf, I truly believe that food is the second most important part of their lives! Found out tonight however, the mysterious benifactor of our wonderful HP sauce bottle...thanks Joan....you are star! Bacon and eggs is not the same without it! So....hope the weather is better tomorrow....final day...8 singles commencing at 11.30am. Needing 7 out of 8 points, will certainly focus the mind....but without sounding completely looney....we can do this...believe it. Time to lay out the uniform for tomorrow....our favourite....white shorts and pale blue polo shirt with pale blue long sleeve jumper.... another classic. Supporters, you were fab again today and tomorrow we will be doing everything in our power to help you raise the noise level a decibel or two! Come on girls....lets show them just how good you really are.

All the matches were nip and tuck and it has to be said there has been one of the finest displays of golf ever displayed today. Well this morning's fourball results do not reflect the great golf played by our team. Birdies all over the place! Matches 8 under par and lots more great stuff. All matches were really close with amazing golf but we just need to come out this afternoon and blast back with great golf with breaks going our way. No putts lipping out this afternoon. Wow...what a day that was. The girls gave us everything we asked of them and more. Mary and I are so very proud of them. I have said all week, to everyone who has asked, that I absolutely love the way the girls are just pegging up the ball and hitting it...no worrying where their swing is...just don't need to...they have all come well prepared and ready for business. So...now we have to start all over again tomorrow...this time fourball first and then foursomes, so an earlier start of 8.30am tee off. So that means meeting in the foyer at 6.15am tomorrow to leave for the golf club. USGA have prepared everything so well for this event...we have all been given the usual walkie talkies, but now we also have "sky caddies" that give us live scoring information on all the matches. Rachel hit the most majestic tee shot to start off the Curtis Cup matches today...huge moment for her and she rose to the occasion...as every GREAT player does. Indeed, each and every single player of this team rose to the occasion today....thanks girls. All that wet wet wet rain of yesterday just disappeared today, though I have to say, temperatures did not quite match up to those of Longmeadow just 1 week ago, when we were struggling with blisters and the like. Talking about Longmeadow....fab to see Roberta and Punky there today and also some of the men that the girls played against....thanks so much for travelling along to see us. Now .....as for you fab supporters....thank you, thank you, thank you. Union Jack flags, polo shirts, Irish tricolour flags, Welsh flag (Thanks Jane) shamrocks....you name it....you were all there. We need you guys...you are part of the team...and you played a huge, huge part in the girls success today...thank you so much.
Now then...early start...so lay out the uniform for tomorrow....White shorts....pink CK polo shirt and navy blue slipover..classic but "simples"....just like that meerkat!

No not Marti Pellow....just me!. So sorry for everyone at Essex County Club today, to have the rain pour down so hard on all their amazing preparation for the opening ceremony. It has been a grim old day , weather wise at Essex today, but it has not in any way dampened the spirits of either players or spectators for the start of the Curtis Cup tomorrow. Our girls are ready for action and I absolutely feel so proud of them. They are all great golfers but all genuinely lovely people also....it is an absolute pleasure to be with them. Course was playing longer today with the rain and the girls just played 9 holes as they had already worked hard all week on charting their way around. Really had a huge lump in my throat when raising the Union Jack today, despite looking like a drowned rat....also when Mary rose the Irish flag.....also looking like a drowned rat...what can I say...we are just a pair of drowned rats! but very proud and very emotional drowned rats. Big day for all our girls tomorrow, that first tee shot of the Curtis Cup is always a daunting one....for experienced and newcomers alike. So Mary and I will be there for them all the way....just a nod and a wink..and we will set them on their way. Come on girls....you know we can do it, but more importantly....Mary and I know you can do it. Okey Dokey...lay out the uniform for tomorrow....white trousers...white polo shirt and a nifty looking pink and white diamond slipover.....sooooo cool!

Foursomes practice

Well, the end of another day and 1 day nearer the BIG event. Time for a bit of foursomes practice today....always a vital component within all team matchplay events and never more so than in Curtis Cup. Matching personalities and golf games is always a delicate exercise and no easy task for any captain...you only have to look at the mis match of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickleson to understand that one. The girls continue to practice well and it was good today to see them mix and match after 9 holes, with equally good effect. Lots of supporters are arriving from all parts and it was great to see Mary's brother Peter (also affectionately known as Duke) arrive....can't believe 2 years have passed when I saw him last at the Curtis Cup at St Andrews. Also great to have some fellow Welsh supporters arrive....I was begining to feel like "billy no mates!". Had a practice session tonight for the flag raising ceremony....cannot give away any secrets, but it will be awesome, memorable and emotional.....most especially for all the girls, for whom this will be their first Curtis Cup. Weather permitting, we will finish up with some fourball practice tomorrow...again, something a little alian to ladies golf, but we are gradually becoming a lot more comfortable with it. So..laundry done....white shorts and navy blue again tomorrow....keeping our best outfits for the match days now....Cannot give the secret away, but the girls will look fab. Feeling very excited for them now......Come on girls....I know we can do this

So day one practice at Essex County Club has gone well...goodness me how the course has transformed from when Mary, Susan and myself were here just 4 weeks ago! The rough has now got a mind of its own and there are now "scary hairy bits" where the ball just sinks below sea level, just feet from the pin...those shots around the green are going to be vital to the girls this coming weekend...really need to have a plan that works to ensure success from there. The course is in magnificant condition and very quickly the girls appreciated the treacherous contours on the greens. By the time each group had passed through the 4th hole today, everyone expressed their love of the course and were fully aware of the challenge ahead of them. Landed at the course via a silver Ford transit van, which will be our team vehicle for the week, with Mary and myself sharing the driving. Arrived at around 6.15 am to an absolutely awesome choice of breakfast buffet....yep the girls were happy little bunnies....they just love to eat! Lunch was just as awesome...more happy bunnies! Entertained tonight at the superb home of Bill Van Fazan and his wife at their superb home in Manchester by the sea....heated swimming pool.....BBQ to die for (yes more happy bunnies!) and gave the girls from USA and GB&I a chance to have some chilling out time with each other before things start to get serious!. Serious we did not do!....suffice to say that I drove the van back to the hotel with a dripping wet team member, wrapped in towels......Did she jump or was she pushed?....well the jury is still out on that! All good clean fun and an excellent way to break the ice.....really hope the girls remember the fun and the friendships they will make this week. So laundry done.....(neat little piles left at my door when I returned tonight.....aaw, bless them!)....uniform laid out for tomorrow....white trousers, pale blue shirts and navy slipover......very smart.... alarm set for a 6.15am lie in.......Blog done...time for land of nod......zzzzz

Time to shine

Ok....so now we have all landed at the Marriot Hotel in Danvers....our home for the next week for the Curtis Cup. A little scary to think that this time next week it will all be over and all our minds are now totally focused on preparing for the ultimate test next weekend. Had a fab time in Boston...left some luggage at the hotel, along with a laptop....but alls well that ends well and luggage and laptop are back with their owners! A good manager should always have her finger on the pulse and her eye on the ball....yep...the luggage was mine! Doh!.. Anyway, early start tomorrow...leaving the hotel at 6am, for breakfast at the club, practice, then off the tee for their first sight of Essex County Club at 8am. That is when it is all going to feel very real for the girls.....not only for the girls...but also Mary and myself. So playing uniform out....white and navy blue tomorrow....alarm on for 5.15am....pack the medical kit...don't forget the waterproofs....thunderstorms today and tornados were not far away either.....crazy weather!

We have spent the weekend sightseeing in Boston and are now in our hotel in Danvers, getting ready for our first day at Essex Country Club tomorrow - how exciting!!

We are looking forward to seeing the course, meeting the US team, our caddies and everyone at Essex Country Club! My visit to the doctor to get my blisters seen to does not sound quite so appealling, but Teg has promised to hold my hand!!

Good day out with the girls in Boston today...out on Boston duck tour (amphibian bus tour)...they are great fun to be with...even if they did make me drive the bus with a jester hat on....Doh! Still got some sore feet going on with the girls, but 2 days out of golf shoes should get them back to normal.Need to replenish the medical kit I think though...just in case! We must have looked sort of strange walking around around the Italian district today...12 of us, wandering around with awesome italian ice cream in our hands and Rachel eating the biggest profiterole in the world! Needless to say, Susan, our "happy snapper" got them all on camera, so watch this space!. Signing off for now...Danielle says I should put my name to these blogs....so

Hey Guys

Just a quick note to say a very big thank you to Longmeadow CC for the past three days, for looking after all of the team and helping us out when we needed.

The Match Yesterday against the Longmeadow members was great fun and the golf was great too, But the Girls Kick there butt! Woo hoo!

Past few days of practice has been great and we have got use to the climate and the time zone.

So for next week we are ready to go and win!!!!

Fantastic day yesterday, as everyone will have seen from the article on the LGU website. Very proud of the girls....an absolute credit to GB&I, both on and off the course. We will really miss the fabulous friends we have made at Longmeadow and really hope the girls will remember such magic moments.Excellent evening last night at the golf....Mary spoke "brilliant"...as she always does.....and OMG...that lobster again....mmm.... So onwards and back across to Boston for a couple of days sightseeing...chilling out....and repairing blisters! Now for my next challenge....getting all my clothes back into that suitcase again!

Day 2 at Longmeadow

Well another fab day here at Longmeadow....started off early and definitely looking like a waterproof day, then just got hotter and hotter. Good old breeze whipping up amongst the trees kept the girls on their toes and my...... didn't they look so good in their pale blue shirts today. Once again everyone in the club is looking after us so well and can not do enough for us. Just around 2.15pm, an almighty thunderstorm descended on us, rudely interrupting 70 plus golfers who began their shotgun start at 1pm....however with 15 minutes it was gone and within minutes it was like sitting in a sauna! So tomorrow, the girls can really hit the button and get into matchplay mode against the Longmeadow men. Everyone, not just in the golf club, but in and around the hotel also, are so interested about what is happening both here and next week at Essex County Club......Had an excellent evening tonight with Roberta, Punky and Debbie, in an Italian restaurant called Uno's, literally a 56% wedge from the hotel, with live music where the lead singer is also a member of the golf club....awesome! Both Punky and Debbie are very good friends of Roberta's and also members of Longmeadow. Congrats to Debbie, fresh from her victory in a ladies competition at Cape Cod and thanks so much to both of them for ferrying us back to our hotel tonight. Punky has got the coolest mini cooper ever and she very kindly took 2 journeys back and forth the hotel, so that the girls could ride in the mini....almost a disaster though , when a second thunderstorm arrived out of the blue.....and the roof was down on the mini at the time! Ok, time to sign off and fly to the land of nod..... white shorts and pink shirts tomorrow...don't forget to pack uniform for the evening...put the gatorade for the girls by the bedroom door so i will not forget....maybe put the blazer there too while I am at it.....locker keys.....hmm, nearly had a disaster with those tonight and that is another story!......

All done after our 2nd round at longmeadow, the course was fantastic and the greens are fantastic prepartion for next week!!

Now its time to beat the men of longmeadow cc!!

If you were a mosquito would you argue with Teg? Different weather today but everyone is really enjoying the course. Blisters are a little problem with swollen feet but all will be healed before we get to Essex. Big match against Longmeadow tomorrow!

Wow, what a scorcher at Longmeadow Country Club today!....Massive thanks to everyone for making us feel so very welcome.....the hospitality, kindness and interest shown by everyone at the club is simply outstanding. The course is in magnificant condition and the girls loved their first outing. Our girls are hitting the ball majestically and all of them are in good form with the banter off the course too! There is a lovely lady in the locker room called Dorothy, who has been with the club for over 40 years.....when we arrived today the locker room was stunning...festooned with flowers and Dorothy had also made sure, that each of our lockers displayed the flag of each of our home nationalties.....it was superb to see a lovely Welsh dragon beaming at me today!...thank you so much Dorothy. Tim Quirk, the very professional, professional has now got a full set of pins attached to his golf cap....and very dapper he looks too! Alice the food and beverage manager, is an absolute ace at knowing exactly how to satisfy the girls appetites.....the LCC chopped salad is to die for!....if you are ever in Longmeadow, you have got to try it. Spotted Rich Derby, the course superintendant on the course today and complimented him on the fantastic job he has done on the course, especially the greens...Rich tells me they will be even faster by Friday...watch out girls!.....And now before I sign off, on this very poor attempt at a "letter from America", I could not possibly do so without saying a massive thanks to Roberta....respected and loved by all, Roberta is one of those wonderfully talented people, who has the fantastic ability to make things happen, to the highest possible standard and with the absolute minimum of fuss....a truly classic person. Time for bed....early start tomorrow, off the tee at 8am so need everyone down for breakfast at 6.30.....put the clothes out for the morning... pale blue shirts tomorrow with white shorts....remind everyone to take their locker keys....sun tan cream.....hats...etc.......

On board my flight to Boston. Doors shut and pilot says we'll be about 30 minutes late into Boston. Hope someone is at the airport to meet me!

Looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the team. Hope they are not too jet lagged!

Also excited about our first practice session tomorrow and beginning to build for the first tee next Friday and a great Curtis Cup.

Many thanks in advance to Longmeadow CC for hosting the team. It looks like a fabulous course and great preparation for Essex CC.

Just gathering together at Heathrow before boarding our American Airlines flight to Boston. The Scottish are here and the Irish are just waiting for their bags. The English are driving and the Welsh team manager is taking the bus! Hope she gets off at the right stop :-)

Last practice session of the season at Stanford now over and all set for Essex CC. Just about to finish the second last essay of the year for my Politics class and then finish packing up my University room for the summer. Plenty still to do but should hopefully be all set for my flight tomorrow! Safe travels to the team and everyone else who is coming over from GB&I. Can't wait to meet everyone in Boston tomorrow. We are ready for a great match and are determined to play our very best golf when it matters.

OMG only 2 days to go til we arrive stateside!! Time has gone by so fast. Final lesson checkup with

the coach yesterday to make sure things are in order...CANNOT WAIT to get out there! Finished with school for this year, so three long months of golf ahead. Thanks to everyone at the

LGU and all the guys at Ping, Calvin Klein and Ecco for kitting us out so well and for doing all the hard work behind

the scenes. We have such a strong team this year and we Know that we will all try our very best to bring the cup

back home where it belongs. Thanks to everyone who is planning to come to Essex CC to support GB&I and to everyone

who will be supporting us at home- we have received so many good luck cards and messages all week. Cant wait to meet up with everyone at heathrow and have a great time in Boston

Just getting up here in California. Last day of University lectures at Stanford before my final exams next week - then its off to Boston. Can't wait for the Curtis Cup to start! Thanks to the R&A, PING, ECCO, Premium Golf Brands and Calvin Klein for their support. The team will look great on the course. (How cool does Fred Couples look in his ECCO's.) Thank you also to everyone back home who is supporting the team and sending messages of encouragement. We are determined to win the Curtis Cup back!

Thanks to everyone who is planning to come to Essex CC to support GB&I and to everyone who will be supporting us at home. I'm really excited to be playing in my second Curtis Cup at such a famous venue. I've been playing plenty of competitive golf recently but this week I am finishing my University lectures before exams next week. I am flying from San Francisco to Boston on June 1st and I'm really looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the girls. We have a great team, a great manager and captain and fantastic support from everyone at the LGU. We will definitely be ready to give our very best to win back the Curtis Cup. I know all the US team - they are great golfers and will be equally determined to retain the Cup, so I'm sure we will have some close and exciting matches. Our team spirit is really strong and we are very determined. I can't wait for the first tee!

6 days to go until we leave for Boston :)
It has been a quick few weeks! Really looking forward to seeing everyone and getting to Boston for an exciting two weeks :)
The sun has been out in Scotland - I know! - so it has been fantastic practicing in warm weather and hopefully the sunshine will be waiting for us all when we arrive in Boston! Plenty of suncream packed - hopefully save me getting a red nose like I normally do!!
LGU are working really hard to help us all get ready for the Curtis Cup!

Just had the second batch of uniform and it all fits a treat :) sun is out again as well making practice that much easier! Starting to wear a hole in the carpet however courtesy of Ecco....wearing the shoes in, blisters in Boston isn't the way forward!

one week to go, time has flown..final prep this week before heading off. loving the sunshine, makes practice easier but studying much harder :(
my exams finish Thursday evening, so Iam looking forward to getting stuck into golf.

OMG one week to go.

My mums doing my head in , my dad is really excited , my uncle cant wait (6'4" in union jacks shorts so you wont miss him !!) , my sister is being cool about the whole thing (kids eh!).

My blazer has come back with badge on looking good thanks Debbie (my official tailor ha ha)

Excited is not a big enough word , so come on girls lets bring the cup home and make everyone proud.

OMG….just 7 days to go. Passport..check…ESTA…check….dollars…check…Union Jack and Irish tricolor ribbons and transfers for the girls…check….blazer, don’t forget the blazer…I won’t be wearing it to travel, so just don’t forget to pack it…put it right in front of my nose so I can see it to pack…….OMG…..Crikey, If I am this excited, can you imagine the girls!
